I want you to succeed by HarmonicSonic I want you to succeed by HarmonicSonic
I know I've talked about this before, but there's too many instances of people putting other people down, both here on dA and elsewhere.

If you get critique from me, please know that it's never my intent to hurt your feelings or upset you. Some people critique because they care about you and see your potential, and they want you to reach that potential.

This stamp is for everyone who wants to help growing artists, or discouraged artists, or anyone in general.

Special thanks as always to $zilla774 for this wonderful template.

If you don't want me to say thank you, then please don't fave it. If you accuse me of not looking at your profile, I will remind you of these artist comments.

EDIT: A Daily Deviation! :faint: I'm not even really sure how to react to this. Thank you guys so much. :)

Daily Deviation

Given 2011-02-23
This stamp is an excellent example of the type of encouragement upon which deviantART prides itself. I want you to succeed by *HarmonicSonic exhibits his typical talent as a shining light for downtrodden Deviants. His whole gallery speaks the voice of tolerance, moderation, and encouragement. That's one of the reasons I critique, though I also want to see if someone is good friendship-material. In general, people who listen to critiques will be more mentally stable, since they'll be able to handle not being right all the time.

ha! you totally deserved the DD!
I'd love to get some critique on my newer pictures cause I'm training anatomical aspects alot. But there was not one comment in that direction.

I support that stamp in any possible way.

Thank you very much. I'd say something, but looking at your artwork, I think you already know more about anatomy than I do, so I doubt there's much I could say.

how do you make a stamp?

A stamp is a piece of digital art, just like any other (it's just a lot smaller :)). I create mine in Photoshop, using a template.

If you're wanting to get into stamping, you may find it easier to use a template too. There are plenty of them out there. One of the best, in my opinion, is $zilla774's template that I used to make this stamp. You can find it here: [link] Or, you can use (excuse the self-promotion here) my own template, which can be found here: [link]

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me and I'll try to answer them the best I can. :D

I agree. Most of the reasons I see people putting other people down is simply because of preference!!! Just because someone doesn't like someone Else's piece, or taste in art or music... They feel that that person's art is now somehow inadequate, or "Not good enough". Or, worse yet, just plain "bad". Granted some artists can do in two minutes that would take someone like me HOURS, but that's life. Some people have had to struggle and fight just to get as good as they are, while with others, the art seems to pour out naturally from them like an overflowing well.

This simple yet outspoken message is truly inspiring and should be used as much as it can.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, it does work that way sometimes. I told another deviant that even a polite critique can be improved if it is made more positive (for example, saying "I think you could improve on ____" rather than saying "I don't think _____ is very good"). Thanks :D
